Hi guys!

This past Saturday (April 14th, 2012) I went to IMATS NYC! I had a great time, and bought a few things! I walked around NYC after, and although I went to a TON of stores, I only purchased a pair of shoes. Not sure how I did that, but I guess I just didn’t find anything worth buying! Luckily, my spring break has only just started, leaving more time to shop and buy more :) (I know I’m crazy! And I did buy more, see my recent purchases post for what I bought)

If you don’t know what IMATS is, it stands for International Makeup Artist Trade Show, and there are a bunch of exhibitors (popular brands like Stila, NYX, Inglot, & more!) that come and sell make up. You can also see presentations and really cool makeup demonstrations, such as stage makeup/body makeup.

The first “booth” I went to was bdellium tools. I had never heard of the company, but there was no line or big crowd, and I wanted to pick up a few brushes, so I thought looking wouldn’t hurt! The brushes they had out were really dense and seemed as if they would work super well, so my mom and I bought a few. I used them today and they actually are really good! Definitely check them out, the prices were great (although they were reduced because it is IMATS!) and like I said, the products work really well! Here is the link to their website:

This is a general look at the brushes, the specific ones that I purchased were #780 (a pencil eyeshadow brush), #957 (a flat-top kabuki brush), and #708 (a bent eyeliner brush).

Next up I went to NYX, which was super crowded but I wanted to buy up a few things here. Although there were people everywhere, I was able to wedge my way in and get the things I wanted. Here’s what I picked up:

Here’s a general look at the packaging of the NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow pencils, the specific colors I got were sparkle nude, iced mocha, and yogurt (which I’ve had before and ran out, so I was glad to get another!). These eyeshadow bases work really well, making sure your eyeshadow lasts for as long as you need it to!

Then I got a Black Label Lipstick in the shade Dusty Rose. It’s a gorgeous somewhat dark pink color that I think would look good on almost anyone!

Lastly I got this eyeshadow palette (because even though I have TONS of eyeshadow, I could always use more!) from the Caribbean Collection in I Dream of Nevis (#6). It contains 5 neutral shades that are absolutely gorgeous and extremely pigmented. I use neutrals on a daily basis, so I know these will come in handy!

The line to actually pay was REALLY long, and I waited for awhile but after using these products for the past week, I think they were worth it! Here’s the NYX website:

Last stop was Inglot! I was itching to try their eyeshadows, and their “freedom system” (I’ll get to that in a second) makes it really hard to resist not buying anything from there! There were a ton of people who had the same mindset as me! Everyone was flocking to Inglot to see if they could figure out all the hype! I wedged my way in, and finally was able to test out the eyeshadows I wanted. They are extremely pigmented and I’ve been using them the past few days–they are amazing!

Inglot’s Freedom System: Basically, you can choose however many eyeshadows, blush, etc. you want, and then you can buy a palette to put them in. I got a quad, and picked out 4 shadows. All together, the cost for the palette and the shadows was only $23! Since companies usually reduce their prices at IMATS, I’m not sure how much this would cost if you were to buy it at an actual Inglot store! The palettes consist of a magnetic top that you can either slide to the side or take off completely. That alone makes it super convenient for not only travel, but your day to day makeup routine!

In no order, here are the exact shades I picked up: 30, 459, 360, and 461. The only downside is that when the shadows are in the palette, it is hard to pry them out to determine which is which. However, if you want four great neutrals for everyday looks, these four are perfect! Otherwise, just look at the colors and choose exactly what you want. They are extremely pigmented and pretty long-wearing. If you ever have the chance, check out these shadows!

Here’s Inglot’s website:

And like I said above, I walked around NYC after expecting to buy a lot, but I only picked up one pair of wedges from TJ Maxx. I think they are absolutely gorgeous! They are Steve Madden, and they were only $40! I don’t know the exact name of them (I can’t find it anywhere online!), but check around your TJ Maxx/Marshalls…maybe you’ll find them?

I can’t wait to wear these in the upcoming months!

Hi! You can buy the NYX jumbo eye pencils at Ulta (either in stores or online (here’s the direct link: or on the NYX website: I haven’t seen the brand at stores like CVS or Walgreens, so I think you will just have to order them online!

I’m definitely not asnikg you to re-swatch these (and thanks very much for doing so in the first place!), but any chance you could swatch shadows together in the future? Meaning, all in a row on your arm/hand. I feel like you usually do, but maybe I’m imagining things haha. I, personally, find it easier to compare colors that way. No biggie if it’s more of a hassle, you’ll still be the number one resource I agree with you that their colors are lacking in uniqueness, but damn, they’re amazing. Really great for staples in a collection.
