Mascara is one of those products that I don’t think I will ever get sick of owning — and something I find I always need to buy more and more of (this often hurts my wallet). I end up buying way more mascara then I need, but I’m never completely satisfied with any mascara. Every time I see something new, I think that one might be better then the one I currently like, so I continue to buy! Here are some of my opinions on a few different mascaras to help guide you before making your next impluse purchase.
The Recent Purchase Mascara: Maybelline Mega Plush
I wouldn’t say this mascara is anything spectacular, but its not too bad either. I love the color of the packaging–so that definitely attracted me to it originally. The brush is interesting, but I wouldn’t say its anything special. It claims to have a gel formula, but I don’t believe the formula is different from other mascaras. Definitely worth trying out though, since it’s not too bad at all! Doesn’t exactly lengthen your lashes, but gives a significant amount of volume.
The Mascara I Always Go Back To: Benefit Bad Gal
I don’t know if it is because I have this in two colors, but I always seem to be coming back to this mascara. I don’t like the look of heavy lashes, and since bad gal provides a very nice natural subtle look, I definitely always use it when I’m pressed for time and want a casual look. It tends to add just the right amount of length for me. I think if you are going out at night, pass on this mascara and find a more volumizing one!
The Hyped-up But Just Ok Mascara: Covergirl Lashblast
This is talked about a lot, but I don’t think its anything too special. I was also considering Benefit’s they’re real for this category, since I feel these two mascaras have a lot of similar qualities despite the differences in their brushes. They volumize, but that brings along a bit of clumps so I’m not thrilled about that. Both are pretty good, but not as great as they are portrayed.
My Current Favorite: Flawless Definition by BareMinerals
I really like this mascara, and always go back between this and Bad Gal. Occasionally I shy away from it just because I get sick of using it over and over when I have a few other open mascaras, but other than that, I use it a ton! Like I said before, I prefer light lashes and even layered a couple of times, this mascara (for the most part) still remains non-clumpy. It gives a considerable amount of length and good volume!
The Expensive One I Want To Try: Dior Diorshow 360
The design of this brush seems really unique and different! I haven’t really seen anything like this, so I am really interested. I cannot commit to the price tag of this mascara, so I shy away from buying it when I know I shouldn’t pay $36 for one mascara. Also, I have so many open bottles currently that I don’t think it would be worth it for me to buy this now. Maybe one day though, since I’ve heard really good things about it!
One More On My Wish List: Buxom Sculpted Lash
I love the shape of the brush! I think the curved shape would really help reach a bunch of lashes, but like I’ve said, I really don’t need anymore mascaras right now. This is only $19, which is around the same price as the Bare Minerals one, so I definitely feel more comfortable justifying this then the Dior mascara. If you’ve tried this, let me know what you think!
