I absolutely love the Maybelline Color Tattoos (I have a whole review here) and when I heard they were releasing a whole batch of limited edition shades, I had to get my hands on them. I checked a few stores, and finally found them at CVS. I was immediately drawn to Bad to the Bronze, but after looking at the label I realized I already had it. That is where you have to be careful with this collection: Maybelline is re-promoting Bad to the Bronze and Audacious Asphalt along with the new shades. Read the label to make sure you aren’t buying a shade you might already own! I only purchased one of the new neutral shades, since it was the one that immediately caught my eye.
The new neutral shades that were released with the collection are: Barely Beige, Gold Shimmer (which after reading about online I think I want to get), Mossy Green, and Rich Mahogany. Maybelline also released a set of jewel tone colors, but since I’m not very adventurous when it comes to eyeshadow, those didn’t interest me too much (and I didn’t see them at my store).
At my CVS, each color tattoo retails for $7.49, which is steep for drugstore but in comparison to MAC Paint Pots (which are very similar) the price is reasonable. The texture is creamy, all of the shadows I have tried (I now have 4) wear really well and stay on until you take them off.
I picked up #100 Barely Beige from the new collection, which I can already tell is going to be an everyday staple in my makeup routine. I love neutral colors exactly like this one, and this will be perfect to wear by itself or with other eyeshadows layered on top.
I know the swatch is faint, but the color payoff is way better than it looks in the photo:
Below is bad to the bronze, one of the shades re-promoted with the line. I absolutely love this color!
When I used these products today, I put barely beige on the first half of my lid and Bad to the Bronze on the other half and blended them in together. Then I used my Inglot shadows just to finish the look and I love the way it turned out.
The photo doesn’t do the look justice, but here is an idea of how it turned out.
Let me know if you picked up any of the limited edition shades!
