Essie’s “Matte About You”

Think of this product as the current technology in nail polish, finding a spot at #1 among the past trends such as cracked nails or magnetic designs. What is it exactly? A top coat that can be applied on to almost any nail polish (fashion PSA: it works on any color – but refrain from bright colors) to create a matte look.

You simply swipe it over your shiny coat of nail polish, and with seconds, the color hardens to diminish the sheen.

Here’s my latest mani with this product:

Did I mention that I couldn’t just get my nails done without some shopping in the same afternoon? (Yes, I’m a full on shopaholic….)

The matte nails are fabulous, very “bad-ass” looking to me. I don’t think I’ll be frequenting the matte nails look – but I wanted to try it out! I was told that my nails would start chipping a day or two after it was applied, but hopefully that’s not the case.

I also picked up a Kate Spade iPad Case (major sale!) & this cute little notepad that totally describes me and the way I pick out outfits. Whether or not I will really use on a regular basis is debatable (only time will tell), but I thought it was adorable and for $3 I couldn’t pass it up.

So.. what’s on your nails right now ? And what are some of your current buys?

xo, J

Definitely try it! I’m on day three and so far no chipping. The matte look is slightly fading but definitely less shiny than your typical polish. Thanks so much for commenting, I absolutely love your blog!

I definitely like a bit of shine on my nails! I love dark nail polish but I find it very difficult to maintain it so I’m mostly wearing nude/light shades…
