School Staple (Collab with Carrie On Blogs)

I’m a firm believer in that everyone needs a school staple, a “uniform” of sorts that can transition them through the first few weeks of the year! I’m partnering with Carrie to present you two options: for those who have a real uniform they wear, check out Carrie’s post on ways to jazz it up! As for my non-uniform, public school gals, I’m bringing to you a quick look book with my favorite summer and soon school staple, Old Navy linen-blend black shorts. (Carrie is so awesome, go check out her blog right now! We’ve connected through Smart Girls Group and blogging, and have become blogger friends, which is so cool! She is so sweet and has an incredible blog.)

I love these and how they go with EVERYTHING. I’m not kidding. I’ve put together three looks to show how versatile these shorts are and how you can use them to get the look you want!

Look 1 / Laidback Graphic Tank

This outfit is great for the first week of back to school, when the classrooms are sooo hot and you don’t yet have tons of binders to carry so you can take a smaller backpack!

Look 2 / Easing into Fall

This outfit is perfect for when it starts to get a bit cooler out but it’s not quite yet jean season! At least in the Northeast where I live, sometimes the mornings can get kind of cold but as the day goes on, the weather warms up (which means school is very hot… hello no AC!) so you can take the jacket off! The shirt is light weight and easy, a simple no brainer to toss on in the morning.

Look 3 / Chic & Unexpected

I love this look! I didn’t think this shirt would work with the shorts but I think the two pair together nicely! The front is a simple outfit, but the back adds some pizzazz that we all love to bring to the table come back to school season. The tote bag is great for the first week when bringing a huge backpack might not yet be necessary!

I hope this has helped my public school girls learn how to take a piece and re-wear it multiple times!

And as for my makeup look here, check out this post! It lists the products I use for an everyday look.

Like I said earlier, go check out Carrie’s post on her actual uniform!

Do you have a summer (and soon to be school) staple? Let me know!

To all those getting into “Back to School” mode – good luck!!! I don’t start until after Labor Day, so I still have some time to finish up my summer reading (ew) and work on my first day outfit choice!

xoxo, Jamie
