Yesterday my family spent a day near the Brooklyn Bridge, a very trendy area with great views, amazing food, and fun little shops! My mom was born and raised in Brooklyn, so she wanted to go back to her “roots” and check out a different area to celebrate her birthday.
We kicked off the day with lunch at Grimaldi’s. The line was out the door but we had heard good things about the restaurant, so we decided to wait. Luckily, we were only outside in the humidity for about 10-15 minutes before we got a table. The pizza was absolutely delicious – anyone venturing out to the DUMBO area has to try it!
From there, we went to the promenade, which boasts a beautiful view! Even better – in the distance, you can see the Statue of Liberty (not pictured above).
Of course, the main “attraction” of this whole area is the Brooklyn Bridge – we didn’t walk it but we were able to see it from below and get amazing pictures.
We spent the rest of the afternoon wandering around – there is a cute little carousel underneath the Manhattan Bridge and a bunch a shops in the area. We stumbled upon Jacques Torres, a chocolate shop, where I snapped the picture of that sign! And the graffiti was actually right across the street.
This area is so cute and anyone visiting New York should definitely take sometime to check out Brooklyn. I definitely want to go back soon, so if you have visited before and have any suggestions of other restaurants/activities, please let me know!
How did you spend the last day of August?
