Scarlett, the blogger behind The Trendy Chick, is so sweet, and today we decided to collab! I asked Scarlett a few questions, and she asked me a few too to go up on her blog! I love featuring other “newcomers” – those of us who love the fashion world but aren’t necessarily “insiders” just yet! Scarlett and I collaborated a loooong time ago (see here) so it was fun to team up again!
What do you wish you had known when you first started The Trendy Chick?
I wish I had known that I would still be blogging almost 3 years later. I assumed it was just a phase and I wouldn’t actually keep up with it, so I didn’t take it very seriously the first few months.
What blogs do you check everyday and why?
I honestly don’t have time to read blogs every day unless I have a day off, so I am not sure. One I do find myself going back to often is The College Prepster just because I love Carly’s style, her photography is great, and she has a wide variety of helpful posts.
What is your favorite post you have ever published on The Trendy Chick?
My Pattern Party Linkup I hosted in August was my favorite post because I loved the outfit and I made many new friends!
How did you come up with the name The Trendy Chick?
When I first began blogging I was obsessed with the latest trends, so that is almost all I blogged about. I wouldn’t call my personal style trendy, but I am always up to date on the latest trends and I do choose to incorporate some of them into my closet. The name just made sense because of what I was blogging about at the time, and as it has evolved, the name just sort of stuck. I like that it is fairly easy to remember, but it isn’t too common.
If you could live anywhere in the world for one year, where would it be and why?
I have always wanted to travel to Greece, but I am not sure if I would want to stay there for a whole year! Perhaps England since they still speak English there so it wouldn’t be too difficult to communicate, but it would still be a fairly big change.
Do your friends at school know that you blog? If so, what do they think?
All my close friends know I blog, and some other people do as well. I don’t purposely keep it from people, but I am not one to post about it all over my personal social media or bring it up every day in conversations either. Anybody who really knows about it and has read it thinks it is really cool and I have never gotten a bad reaction!
What methods of organization do you recommend to maintain a successful blog?
I recommend keeping a list of possible post ideas. I always have a list of at least 10, so whenever I have an hour or two to write, I know exactly what I can write about. An editorial calendar is also a good idea to make sure that you are sticking to your posting schedule.
If you had to re-name your blog for some reason, what name would you pick?
I actually though about renaming it a few months ago, but then I realized that I still really like the name The Trendy Chick and I couldn’t think of any other unique name that fit well. If I had to choose one, I might choose Styled By Scarlett, but I just don’t know if I could commit to that! Plus, it is fairly generic even though my name is in it.
Thanks to Scarlett for answering these questions!
Sorry for my absence on Wednesday – it is so unlike me! However, my school newspaper is currently in deadline which means staying after school from 2-9p.m.! This is crazy and chaotic and I unfortunately didn’t have any content that I was 100% happy with to go up Wednesday.
How has your week been?
