Reflections & Resolutions

The Fashion Newcomer has grown so much in 2014 – I am so  lucky to have this creative outlet. Starting in late June 2014, this blog really kicked into high gear. The Fashion Newcomer was born in March 2012, but this past summer really opened me up to the world of blogging. There are so many teen bloggers, from all over the country (and the world!) with so many great things to say. Blogging is so much more than fashion or makeup trends, it is about revealing thoughts and finding common bonds. Connecting with so many other bloggers has been so amazing – I can’t wait to grow those friendships in 2015!

Past // Reflections:

I can’t believe how much I accomplished this year: I got my license, successfully conquered APUSH, finished SAT/ACT tests (& college applications!), and started senior year out strong. As for reflections… I’ve definitely learned a lot this year. I’ve found out new things about myself, the people around me, blogging, and even my fashion style. Life is full of surprises, and I’ve realized that embracing the spontaneity can make for some of the best memories. I also discovered that people truly do only make time for what is important to them. This is definitely something I want to start doing; time is so valuable, and it is not worth it to waste it on things, or people, that do not matter.

Present // Thoughts:

Right now I am on Winter Break, which has been so fun and relaxing. As the true shopaholic I am, I’ve been shopping the after Christmas sales – there are definitely some great deals out there (a post on what I found to come soon!). I’ve been thinking a lot about my blog and the direction it will head in – all I know is that I want it to be the best it possibly can be in 2015. I worked so hard this year to produce content I am truly proud of, and I can’t wait to exercise the same creative freedom in the future.

Some of my favorite TFN posts from this year:

Feeling Fall Link-Up / If Bloggers Were Honest / Smart Girls Group Conference Recap / Newcomer in NYC: Cronuts & Soho / School Supplies: Splurge or Save Edition / School Staple (Collab with Carrie On Blogs) / Styling a White Tee with Get Up & Dress Up / The Post Graveyard

Future // Resolutions:

I’m big on resolutions, even though I almost never look at them throughout the year or even remember to stick to them. For 2015: I need to get in shape. I say this every year and never actually do it, but I think being a second semester senior might give me the time to go to the gym and start working out. I also really want to try to wake up at least 5-10 minutes earlier each day for school – I’ve been sleeping later than I should and as a result I’m really frazzled in the morning. I think the extra time would give me a nice breather to conquer each day appropriately! I have a lot of other resolutions too – but they aren’t as tangible so harder to share here.

As for my blog, I pledge to keep posting as consistently as possible. I want to grow relationships with other bloggers and continue to keep posting content I have put 120% of my effort into. I have so many ideas going forward that I cannot wait to execute! Please please please tell me what you’d like to see from me going forward! Do you like the ramble posts or more fashion oriented ones? Or both? And at that, would you want more outfit posts? Please let me know!

xoxo, Jamie
