Gossip Girl Glamour

Can we just take a second: there is an official Gossip Girl Day.

As an avid fan, I feel like I should’ve known this before Carrie, Michaela, and Courtney announced their link-up, but late is far better than never! And maybe I’m not the avid fan that I think I am considering I skipped Season Five (I try to keep this on the down low….).

In true blogger fashion, Laura and I teamed up to take outfit photos together (and also, I think I’ve put my brother through enough blog-related photography for a lifetime.) The snow made location scouting (aka whether it to take it outside our houses or inside) a bit difficult but nevertheless it came together, even if they aren’t the most glamorous pictures ever.

Can I just say: trying to replicate Gossip Girl style is hard (I’ve tried before)! The show was known for it’s amazing fashion, and Eric Damian really did pull out all the stops – in fact, most of the characters were outfitted in designer ensembles, which again, makes it really difficult to figure out what from my closet was applicable to this link-up (and also because unlike me, the characters didn’t spend most of their time wearing jeans. Sigh.).

Sure, Serena typically doesn’t wear black/grayscale outfits but I it’s my usual color palette, so it’s what I wore! Plus, I wanted to make this look realistic and less costume-y, because some of the character’s traditional wardrobes are so drastically different from anything I would ever wear.

1. Who is your outfit inspired by and why did you pick that character?

My outfit is inspired by a laid-back Serena Van der Woodsen. I was complaining to Laura, not sure what to wear, and she found a small picture online of Serena wearing a piece that was very similar to that sweater/jacket I had in my closet!

2. Favorite Gossip Girl moment?

Well, I’ll be tallying up the number of people that say when Blair and Chuck got married (admittedly, this was a very cute moment). As opposed to a moment, I’m going to go with a whole “era” of the show: pre-pretentious Dan. He was my favorite character before he got all weird and “wannabe.” Anyone else with me?

Thanks again to Carrie, Michaela, and Courtney for hosting!

xoxo, Gossip Girl  Jamie

Before I read the rest of the post, I immediately thought you were channeling Serena. That jacket is definitely something I could see her (and myself!) wearing. Great look. And I had to end my linkup post with an xoxo too. It would be wrong not to!

Thank you so much!! That means so much to me – love that you could tell it was Serena right away because I wasn’t sure when I put the outfit together. Totally agree about the xoxo thing!

I think Serena would love this outfit. I definitely do. I like that you brought your own style into the mix, I think that’s what Gossip Girl fashion is all about anyway.
