Welcome back to another Newcomer in NYC! To be honest, these are one of my favorite types of posts to write. I absolutely love talking about New York City! Whether it be an outing to a place on my NYC To-Do List or just a day trip exploring, I love sharing fun places to visit for anyone else traveling to the city in the near future.
Stop #1: Schmackary’s // Schmackary’s is one of the latest in the pop-up dessert shop trend in New York City, joining the likes of Momofuku Milk Bar and the popular chain Baked by Melissa. When we arrived, there was a line out the door and a lingering smell of oatmeal raisin cookies. The bakery is pretty small, with minimal seating and a simple countertop encased by glass showcasing the day’s goods.
For anyone looking to visit, beware of the fact that Schmackary’s has a flavor rotation throughout the week. All of the flavors are listed on the website and be aware that depending upon the day, you might not get to try everything you want. There are also other treats available and get this – they even serve breakfast (scones, cinnamon buns, and more!).
If you were wondering… my favorite flavor I tried was the Hangover (which, funnily enough, isn’t even listed above!). I had high expectations for the Sch’mores, but it wasn’t quite what I expected it to be.
Stop #2: Finding Neverland – Broadway // This show was absolutely fabulous! I 100% recommend. For those who don’t know, Finding Neverland tells the story of how J.M. Barrie came up with the idea to write Peter Pan. The songs are so catchy (“Stronger” is still stuck in my head). Matthew Morrison, Kelsey Grammar, Laura Michelle Kelly, and the rest of the cast are so incredibly talented. If you will be in New York in the coming months, buy tickets! I’ve seen so many shows (18!!) and as for what is still showing now, this is one of the best.
Like I said, Finding Neverland is definitely moving up on my list of favorite shows. Others I loved include Pippin, First Date, Rocky, Wicked, and Bring it On. Any suggestions as to what I should go see next?
I didn’t have time to snap outfit pictures… I just have this one quick snapshot which illustrates my weekend uniform as of late:
The house of harlow necklace is everything! I wear it all the time because it goes with almost everything I own. The jacket is Topshop – very warm and versatile. Since I wear mainly black, I’ve been inserting color through handbags – a recent favorite is my Rebecca Minkoff pictured above with the playbill.
What have you guys been up to lately? Any fun weekend activities planned?
